Elements, the concert series of the Budapest Sound Collective, focuses on the physical characteristics of sound, such as volume and timbre. The first concert in the series looked at the relationship of sound and space. The second concert opens the world of timbre. The strong parallels with the visual arts, and the new works commissioned for the occasion, will allow the audience to realize that there is an astonishing richness to the timbre of musical notes, and will help them by the end of the concert to hear through timbres – just as certain painters see, first and foremost, through colours.
