Symphony Orchestra of the Béla Bartók Conservatory of Music

At the Béla Bartók Conservatory an important role is given to the students’ participation in ensemble work alongside their individual instrumental lessons. A symphony orchestra has been operating in the college since the beginning of the 1980s. Today as well as acquiring the basics of traditional orchestral playing, modern music also forms a part of their repertoire. The orchestra among other things regularly takes part in the Conservatory’s New Music Project. Since September 2014 the orchestra has been conducted by Gergely Dubóczky, and under his baton they have performed  Bartók’s Dance Suite, Debussy’s Petite Suite and Copland’s Appalachian Spring.
